NaPoWriMo 2016 - 11th Day

The House

Right here stands the big house.
Two-story, balcony,
The curious it can rouse.
A driveway so stony,
And the outdoor staircase,
Leading from the bookcase.

Shadows in the indoors,
Where the lights had burned out.
On slippery, waxed floors,
Orange cat walks about.
The shelves of the thick books,
Looming over who looks

Through the glass of windows.
As the wind outside blows,
The truth finally shows

Visitors stay outside
The strength of glass windows
And doors on outer side.
As their lone gas lamp glows,
It's light is all they see.
At home, I hold my key.
